Great question! This is a really difficult one, but I’d probably go for the invention of electrical light/light bulbs!

What do you think? I’m keen to hear your opinion! 🙂

I would say the discovery that adding chlorine to water makes it safe to drink . We take safe drinking water for granted, but contaminated water used to kill many thousands of people in the UK from diseases like cholera and typhoid and still does in other parts of the world today.

      This is from Wikipedia:

Permanent water chlorination began in 1905, when a faulty slow sand filter and a contaminated water supply caused a serious typhoid fever epidemic in Lincoln, England. Alexander Cruickshank Houston used chlorination of the water to stop the epidemic.

there are lots of discoveries that have changed the way we live, but i guess i think the best thing to be invented in terms of modern is the integrated circuit, which is a keystone in all our modern computers and communication devices.

WOW, this is a very difficult question. I think the internet, world wide web must be up there with one of the best things. Can you imagine what life would be like these days if the internet and world-wide connectivity were to vanish?

That is such a good question. There are many up there, but I think the printing press was a very important invention as it meant information could get to the general public much quicker and more easily.

That’s a great question, but one I can easily answer! Without a doubt – vaccines. They have transformed the human population within 200 years, and we have completed eradicated one disease (smallpox). Life would be very different for everybody if we didn’t have them, and the current pandemic is highlighting this as being as important today as ever.

Fantastic Q – Most people would go for the greats of science – Fire, Light bulb, electricity, internet, medicine and so on. Others might pick a luxury like chocolate or Champagne. Some might go for music or TV but …………after having had a child nothing can compare to the best invention ever……………The baby wipe

I’d probably have to say home electricity, though I’m not sure that counts as one thing!
