• Question: Out of the many things you do in your job, what are the ones that get your heart racing the most?

      After doing a good job and delivering a report to the customer, hearing amazing feedback unexpectedly from them is what makes my heart beat and flutter the most! Often, the work that you do might seem ‘normal’ to you after some time, and hearing from the customers themselves just how much your work has helped them is the best feeling in the world!

    When I’m working with something dangerous (I was 10 minutes ago!) that gets my heart racing a bit as you know that you have to be super careful!

    When the instruments or equipment I use develop a fault and stop working, especially if they start beeping to let everyone else in the lab know too.

    Ask any footballer – you can plan tactics and plan the match to every minute but all that planning and waiting has to start at some point and that is the very start. Just like a footballer waiting for the kick off in a huge stadium surrounded by thousands of fans (Let’s forget COVID) – they get nervous as they look around and take everything in, the same can apply at work. That moment as you start a new project or kick off the first experiment is still the one that gets you heart racing the most.
