• Question: What is your favourite thing about your work?

      My favourite thing about my work is that it brings together many different areas of science and uses nature to make our lives better. I love being able to learn about all the different parts of my project and understand how they link together.

    This is one good Q – the best thing about the forensic work I do is the variety of it. I use lots of different scientific techniques such as Scanning electron microscopes to find the answer to customer problems (why is this blue not yellow, what is floating in my oil etc) . Also the people and the fun should never be underestimated. If you work somewhere for most of the day then you should enjoy what you do and get on with all the people that are there otherwise you cannot have fun and it will never be the best.

    My favourite thing about my work is the variety! I have my day-to-day tasks which are quite similar but then there’s always something different, whether that’s a new project or collaborating with someone I haven’t worked with before.

    Variety and it’s challenging which means I am never bored! Every job has it’s boring bits but I’d say I’m never on one task long enough that it gets like that for me. It’s really exciting that I feel like I’m doing something with a purpose to benefit others – not just my own interests.
