I live in London with my boyfriend. I wish I could say I had lots of cats but my boyfriend is allergic so no animals for me, but I’m a huge animal lover! Outside of science I love to do creative things. I play the flute, sing and used to love doing musical theatre at uni. I learned to crochet last year and enjoy making adorable crochet animals.
Travelling is one of my favourite things. I’ve spent quite a lot of time abroad in the US, SE Asia and Australia and New Zealand. With having some extra time in lockdown, I’ve decided to scrapbook all of my holidays over the last 10 years. I have a goal to travel to 30 countries by the time I’m 30 and I have managed that now! Next new place on the list is probably Norway or Peru. I’d love to see Machu Picchu!
I’ve been playing a lot of the Sims 4 recently but my favourite game series is the Legend for Zelda. It’s hard to choose one fav food, but I’d probably pick Japanese, and sushi in particular. And favourite music will forever be cheesy pop songs.

I am a graduate chemist, currently working in product testing and engineering. One of the projects that I’m looking at is a fuel economy project. The work involves testing different lubricants or fuels to try and get more miles from your car. At the same time, it’s important to keep the engine clean and running with minimal pollutants.
There are future projects that I’m working on, such as alternative fuels and lubricants. This is very early in development and involves a lot of research first to understand the background and then applying this to new products with the aim of creating a cleaner and more sustainable business.

My Typical Day:
I get up at 6:30 so I can catch my train out from London in to the countryside. I might do some science reading, go into the lab or check on engines.

I have a long commute from London to work of about 1 hr 45 mins, but I get to work at a beautiful site in the countryside. My job does contain a lot of office work, so of course there are emails, scientific research to do and meetings to get to – a lot of team collaboration.
But I also will go into the blending lab, where new lubricants are being blended to help out in there. I have travelled to interesting locations such as fuel farms, chemical manufacturing plants and physical testing labs.
I do a lot of test analysis, which will become increasingly important throughout my time in product testing and engineering, once the engine is set up and we run it to find the lubricant that gives best fuel economy.

If you had 3 wishes for yourself what would they be? - be honest!
1) I wish I had enough money not to have to work, but could volunteer and still be able to go travelling. 2) Have cats. 3) A clean and sustainable world.
Tell us a joke.
Why did everyone laugh at the mushroom when he walked in the room? Because he was a fun guy!
