I am from Galicia, the north-west corner of Spain. I moved to the UK as an ERASMUS student ten years ago (to Sheffield), and now live and work in London.
On my free time, I enjoy playing instruments: I am learning how to play bagpipes!, I am in a Galician folk music band and also in the NHS choir of St Thomas Hospital. Also love cycling and reading adventure and sci-fi novels 🙂

I use a technique called Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS), to scan the human brain and find out the molecular composition of different brain areas. In particular, in my current research, I study newborn babies brains to look at their level of neurotransmitters (molecules used by the nervous system to transmit messages between neurons); hoping to find out information about their neurodevelopment.
-
My Typical Day:
My typical day is very variable, which is one of the best things of being a researcher. I could be running experiments (scanning patients), analysing data (programming), giving a seminar or teaching.
