Work History:
I worked as a lifeguard part time/casually since I was in sixth form doing my A-levels. I stopped this job last year as I no longer needed the extra work but it’s a really good job to have because you can take it anywhere, it teaches you really useful transferrable skills and the pay is quite good!
Alongside my studies at university I’ve also had some very short term placements (a few months or so) working part time in laboratories as an assistant or on an internship. More recently I’ve started doing consultancy work with businesses and government, for example in 2019 I was paid by the Scottish government to produce a report on what impact the summer heatwave in 2018 had on private water supplies.

Current Job:
My PhD is my current job. I’m paid by the National Environment Research Council to do my research. I also get paid by Edinburgh University to help out with running undergraduate laboratories, tutorials and field trips.

About Me:
I find the natural world very exciting and enjoy trying to understand how it works
